The United Methodist Church shares a great deal with other denominations. Explore what we believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and more. We also have a unique heritage and areas of emphasis. Learn what we mean when we talk about grace, how we serve people around the world, and ways we grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Tucker First is a member of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. The North Georgia Conference is led by Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson and seeks to develop principled Christian leaders, to engage in ministry with the poor, improve global health, advocate for justice, respond to disasters, and fulfill the mission of the denomination: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Comprised of nearly 800 churches, more than 1,300 clergy members, and approximately 340,000 lay members, we are currently the largest United Methodist Conference in the United States.

Chuck Knows Church is a series of short videos created by the Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church. The two video series help interpret complex subjects, symbols, and issues concerning the church in a fun, yet informative way. Each video features “Chuck” who helps us learn more about the United Methodist Church This is a great teaching tool for families to view together and the videos are very short.
basics of our faith
When we talk about “God’s love,” we are trying to express our understanding of who God is. That’s hard because God is love, beyond anything that words can describe. Yet words are the symbols we use to communicate, so we struggle and fumble and use imperfect words to talk about perfection.
What is love? First Corinthians 13:4-13 helps define it for us: Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. . . For we know only in part . . . but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. . . . Then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
