A Letter from the Health and Wellness Committee (July 16)
Dear Church,
Your Health and Welfare Committee has been working hard to develop a plan for us to safely gather as a church family. As you are aware, there has been a significant rise in COVID-19 cases in the Atlanta metropolitan area, including Tucker, and guidance from the Bishop and the North Georgia Conference urges us to continue online worship at this time. In an effort to keep all of you informed regarding how and when Tucker First UMC will resume in person worship, we would like to update you on our process and what types of communication you can expect from us going forward.
First, the question on everyone’s mind – When will be get back to worship on-site?
If you have any questions or comments about the process or guidelines highlighted here please put them in writing and email them to [email protected]
Peace and Blessings,
The Health and Welfare Committee

First, the question on everyone’s mind – When will be get back to worship on-site?
- Worship will not resume until we observe a decline in new cases for 2 consecutive weeks once both DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties are out of red or orange level risk according to www.globalepidemics.org , a resource recommended by the Extended Cabinet of NGUMC.
- New cases are being monitored weekly in the 5 zip codes surrounding the church with our highest membership
- We will be sending out a graph each week that clearly shows the change in new cases week to week. This will make it easy for you to see the data we are working with to make decisions.
- Included with this message is a 3-phase chart we have developed that outlines the measures we will be taking to ensure everyone’s safety.
- This chart is intended to give you the general outline of how things will look and is subject to change as we learn more about this virus and what works best for our church.
- We may move between phases (forward or backward) as the local situation warrants.
If you have any questions or comments about the process or guidelines highlighted here please put them in writing and email them to [email protected]
