What is "Do Something September?"
"Do Something September" is an initiative from our Tucker First UMC mission team that highlights activities and mission projects that you or your family can do on your own schedule throughout the month of September and by doing so, support local businesses and ministries. You can pick a mission project that interests you and volunteer. It is that simple. This is a community-wide effort and there are suggestions for all types of people (persons who shelter-in-place, donate items at local drop off, or serve-in-person, etc.). You can do as much or as little as you like to your level of comfort. Questions? Please send your questions to Missions@tfumc.org. |

Health Kits for the Homeless
Pre-made health kits are needed for our local homeless population. These kits contain necessary items that many of us take for granted and we invite you to make some kits in September. Items in the kits should include: toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, wash rag, hand sanitizer, face mask and socks. Place all items in a gallon Ziploc bag. We would prefer that you create a minimum of ten health kits so that our volunteers are picking up at least ten kits (instead of just one kit).
When your kits are completed, please sign up for a pickup by using this signup sheet - https://tinyurl.com/healthkits2020. Someone will come and pick up your kits. The completed health kits will be delivered to the DeKalb Police Department, Tucker Precinct and also the Trinity Soup Kitchen in downtown Atlanta.

Community Night of Awareness
No one person, congregation or denomination can do everything. Each of us can do something to help in the fight! According to the CDC, one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually exploited by the age of eighteen. Please join Tucker First UMC, along with Street Grace for an online “Community Night of Awareness” Tuesday, September 29 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.
This free program will focus on how you can help eradicate the commercial sexual exploitation of children in our communities. The recent news of “Operation not Forgotten” where 40 children were rescued in Georgia from child traffickers makes this community event even more timely. No one person, congregation or denomination can do everything. Each of us can do something to help in the fight! You can find out more about them at www.streetgrace.org
